Are you aware that in recent years microwave transmitters have greatly impacted our lives (and our health)?   Inside our homes and offices, these transmitters send signals (EMR – electromagnetic radiation) to wireless phone systems, wireless sound systems and wireless computer networks.  They bathe our bodies, our children and our pets in microwave radiation close to the range of a microwave oven.

The wireless age is unrelentingly upon us.  In just 20 years, the wireless industry has profoundly transformed the lives of people, businesses and societies globally.  It has also become a 200 billion dollar a year industry.  In recent years, an increasing number of cell phone base stations have been placed on the grounds of our children’s schools, colleges,  and government buildings (including fire stations), and have even been housed in the steeples of churches where our 2, 3 and 4 year old children attend pre-school.  Now, plans are underway for major cities in America to go entirely wireless; i.e. Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, Louisville and others.  Since cell phones have been introduced (in 1984) we have seen the proliferation of Fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ADHD and Autism.  More and more people are suffering from fatigue, headaches, dizziness, tension and sleep disturbances.

Dr. George Carlo, the cell phone industry’s former chief scientist, wrote an alarming book on the extreme health hazards posed by wireless communication devices.  The book is titled Cell Phones, Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age.  Dr. Carlo was hired by the cell phone industry in 1992 to study the safety of its product.  In 1999, his research funds were not renewed, and the industry sought to discredit him.  His findings on the dangers posed by the microwave radiation from cell phone antennas – disrupting cardiac pacemakers, penetrating the developing skulls of children, compromising the blood-brain barrier, and most startlingly, inflicting genetic damage that is a known diagnostic marker for cancer – are given clear voice as Dr. Carlo brings his case to the public in this examination of the hard science and the shady politics of a reckless high tech industry now mired in personal injury and class-action litigation. 

Robert O. Becker, M.D. showed in his 1990 book, Cross Currents, The Perils of Electropollution, how our human bodies and immune systems are being adversely affected by man-made electromagnetic fields from power lines, radar, microwaves, satellites, ham radios, cell phones, computers, video display terminals, and even electric appliances.  In his book, Dr. Becker pointed out that radiation once considered safe, is now correlated with increases in cancer, birth defects, depression, learning disabilities, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Alzheimer ’s disease and Sudden Death Syndrome.

Studies show that prolonged exposure to EMR can alter biological activities, change blood chemistry, damage DNA, interfere with heart rhythm, brain waves and our internal communications network that regulates cellular activity.  In addition, cell phone radiation may be responsible for triggering the development of acoustic neuromas and damaging our immune system.  Many scientists believe some damage, such as breaks in DNA strands, can last a lifetime and can be passed on to another generation.  Many warn that continuous exposure to cell phones, even in standby mode, is cumulative – like continuous exposure to x-rays or chemical toxins.  In addition, many scientists believe that cell phone radiation makes cancerous cells grow aggressively.

With 2.2 billion people using cell phones worldwide, this may be the largest clinical trial ever conducted on the human race.  Does that alarm you?

Electromagnetic pollution leads to more rapid aging, elevated blood glucose levels, elevated lipid levels, high blood pressure, increased neuro-regulatory disturbances, and impacts the central nervous, cardiovascular and immune systems.

Scientists fear that cell phones and cordless phones create greatest risks for our children, because their skulls are smaller and thinner, and radiation is able to penetrate more easily.  Studies show that brain tumors have replaced leukemia as the number one life-threatening disease for children in Australia, Europe and the UK.  Brain tumors are the number 2 killer of our children in the US.

World renown physician and author, Dr. Sherry Rogers, cautions that cell phones’ electron smog causes Leaky Brain Syndrome, and that radio frequency electromagnetic fields make the blood-brain barrier so leaky that even large blood proteins like albumen, which are also the carriers for a lot of drugs and chemicals in the body, pass right through into the brain where they damage the neurons.  This leakage also allows an onslaught of heavy metals into the brain and it happens within a few hours of exposure.  Once it is triggered, the leaking lasts as much as eight weeks after one exposure.  Therefore, many other environmental chemicals can pass into the brain and stockpile during this time.

A Swedish study warns specifically against the intense use of mobile phones by youngsters (who are now being targeted as customers as young as five years old by the cell phone companies):

“The voluntary exposure of the brain to microwaves from hand-held mobile phones” is “the largest human biological experiment ever.” Neurons that would normally not become “senile” until people have reached their 60’s now do so when they are in their 30’s.

Scientists expect that teenagers who are glued to their cell phones probably won’t suffer negative effects until middle age.  Like most environmental damage, it takes time to produce chronic disease.

The evidence is overwhelming that cell phones and EMR from your cordless phones, desktop computers, laptops, handheld PDA, Game Station, televisions, refrigerator, microwave oven, hair dryer, automobile, vacuum cleaner, alarm clock, toaster and coffee maker pose a very real health risk. 

Electro-pollution, which is 100 million times worse than when our grandparents were children, is an insidious stressor that can cause extraordinary effects on our bodies.
